marketing

Here is a brief summary of some key points to consider when planning a marketing campaign:

1. what is your target audience?

Who are your existing customers? Who are your most profitable customers? Are you looking for new markets? Have you new products to launch?

2. how can you reach your audience?

Have you run previous marketing campaigns? If so, what was successful and what wasn’t. Think about which medium might be the most cost effective for your specific target audience.

3. branding & marketing

Protect and promote your brand. Once you have created your brand, you must promote it across all your activities. If your brand is not good enough then think about changing it!

4. direct communication

Communicate with your existing customers or with potential new customers. This can include personal contact through telesales, personal email or visits or indirect contact through newsletters, direct mail, leaflets or advertising (posters, display advertising, sponsorship etc).

5. internet marketing

How are you using the internet? Is your website is effective? What can you do to promote your website?

For more information, please see our section on internet marketing.

6. indirect communication

Use the media to promote your business and your activities. For more information, please see our section on public relations.

7. Sustaining awareness

Once awareness of your business or brand has been raised, it is essential that effort must be put into maintaining that awareness otherwise monies spend previously could be wasted.
